FAQ
Arborists use throwlines and throw weights to install ropes in tree canopies from the ground.
The quickee is a durable, impact-resistant nose cone that can be added to almost any traditional-style throw weight.
When used with a throw weight, the quickee conceals the ring, adds more rigidity, and lowers the axis of rotation, thus making it easier for the throw weight to pivot over obstacles and move much more smoothly through the tree canopy.
Plus, it works with the traditional-style throw weights that most arborists already own, making it a light-weight addition to your kit.
BONUS: It can even be used to effortlessly pull ropes up through unions after the toss.
The quickee has all of the advantages of a rigid-style throw weight without being overly bouncy or vulnerable at the attachment point.
It works in tandem with your existing throw weights, so no need to add extra weight to your kit by buying yet another throw weight variation.
Affix the quickee to the throw weight to set the throw line in the tree.
Once set, pull the throw weight out of the quickee leaving a loop of throwline.
Place the rope through the throwline loop and pull it into the quickee.
(It’s really that easy.)

While not impossible, the quickee is far less likely to get stuck in a tight union than a throw weight alone.
With traditional-style throw weights – once snagged, the ring and flexible ring attachment area can get lodged deeper into tight unions due to the increased friction with each pull, resulting in the throw weight getting stuck, StUcK, and MORE STUCK.
In comparison, the sharp taper at the nose of the quickee, coupled with its overall rigidity, decreases the likelihood of the system getting stuck in a union.
If the quickee doesn’t fit through the union, you can either try to bounce it over the union, or lower the system back down and re-throw.
More often than not, yes!
The quickee works with nearly all commercially available throw weights – ring Inner Diameter (ID) must be 7/8" (22.22mm) or less.
The only type we have found that is not compatible is “ALL GEAR” brand throw weights, which have a larger ring ID than can fit in the quickee.
If your purchased quickee happens to not work with your throw weight, let us know and we can arrange a return - Return Policy.
Yes, simply tie a slip knot near the quickee and pass a bite of throwline through the knot like you would through the ring. Check out our Two-Handed Throw Guide here.
Nothing. The quickee is durable and built to withstand the rigors of tree work.
The quickee comes in at a whopping 1 oz (28g).
The quickee works well with up to 1/2" (12.8 mm) line. We are currently working on something for larger ropes. Stay tuned!
